JOSÉ LÓPEZ ZAMORANO
José López Zamorano is one of the most experienced and respected Latino journalists working in the nation's capital. As the long time Washington Editor of the Mexican news agency Notimex, José is responsible for managing the coverage of 16 journalists and photographers in eight bureaus located throughout the U.S. and Canada. As a reporter, he has specialized in congressional politics, bilateral relations with Mexico, and the growing impact of the Latino community in the United States.
"I truly believe that good journalism has to be relevant to people's everyday lives,” he says. “Our hope is that the stories we present on Epicentro will help our community to understand our strong connection to political events in Washington, and the critical role Latinos play in the economic, social, and cultural life of the nation.”
José has been a regular contributor to Radio Mexicana and has written special Spanish-language reports on the Latino vote for the Congressional Quarterly. He has participated in such English-language programs as the Diane Rehm Show and has covered various news events for Notimex in Perú, Colombia, England, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and France. José is a graduate of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico City and lives in Maryland with his wife and three children.
